Cutest. Movie. Ever.
Wayne and I went to go see WALL-E tonight, and seriously, it is THE cutest, most adorable, most amazing animated film ever. I was "Aww"ing every other minute. Plus, the message behind it is pretty nifty.

Seriously, everyone needs to see it.

R.I.P. George Carlin
George Carlin died. He was 71.

I feel horrible. I have no words to express how upset I am that he's gone. I'm grateful that I saw him in NY this year.

To those who knew his comedy, take comfort in the fact that he didn't just 'die'. He 'passed away.' Or 'expired' like a magazine subscription.

But seriously. Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits.

George, you will be sorely missed. Your brand of comedy changed my life.

Rest in Peace
George Dennis Carlin

"How good is your kung fu?"
Wayne and I saw "The Forbidden Kingdom" today, and I have to say, I was pleasantly amused. All the hype about Jet Li and Jackie Chan -finally- being in a movie together gave me the impression that it was an all-action, wire-effect, ninja version of "The Matrix".  Thankfully, it wasn't that at all. The banter between Li and Chan was funny, and the lead male, Michael Angarano has some great comic moments. Plus, watching him go from stumbling kung-fu movie geek to 'real-life' kung-fu hero was awesome. The action sequences were seamless, and the ridiculous wire-effects were kept to a minimum. The scenes that did include the wire-effects were done with style. Also, all the hype about Li and Chan finally starring together in a movie was worth it. Watching those two battle it out during the temple scene was freaking awesome. The white-haired witch was pretty badass too. Reminded me of a certain white-haired witch character that I play in my MUD game.

Verakaiya, ftw!

So I'm Yoinking Kim's idea..
... And starting a Lush and [enter girly cosmetic/body products here] filter. Basically, I'll be doing what Kim's doing. :) Writing my opinion on the Lush stuff I've tried, and other non-Lush stuff that merits any such effort. :)

So, if you want to be included in this filter, let me know! Comment, people!

Sooo.. Hair cut?
I'm thinking of cutting my hair. Again. But like... short. Like Keira Knightley in "Domino" short. Or Alyssa Milano's when she was the "Evil Phoebe" from the parallel world. Why do I want to go shorter? Well, I'm just tired of taking forever every morning to dry my hair, and I ALWAYS I have my hair tied back anyway, even if I style it with the intention of leaving it down, so I think shortening it would be easier, and hell, it would look pretty funky..

Ideas? Anyone?

Small rant.
So. As many of you know, I have a tattoo on my arm of a swallow, and around it, the phrase "Not all Treasure is Silver and Gold."

At least once a day, I get confused looks from people when they read it, which then get followed by the question, "So.... what's that supposed to mean?" Are people really this stupid? What do they think it means? Hello, it's not like I have some obscure phrase written in Aramaic or something. Do people really need me to spell out the message behind that phrase? Seriously, people, come on. Figure it out for yourselves.

What do you guys think it means?

Musical Chairs
So.. yeah. Through the wonder and magic of the corporate suits at Lord & Taylor, I am no longer the Counter Manager for NARS Cosmetics. No, this isn't a bad thing. No, I did not fuck up royally. This is our executives playing musical chairs with their employees.

Here's the run down:
The Christian Dior counter is doing terrible business (at our store) and has been for the past fours years. So, the Dior line is leaving our Lord & Taylor. Why does this effect me? Well, NARS shared counter space with Dior, along with Elizabeth Arden. With Dior gone we'll have empty counter space. So, our big suit boss guy wants to give NARS and Elizabeth Arden more exposure. Apparently giving them more exposure means moving where they're located in the department. Elizabeth Arden is moving OUT of the NARS counter, and going to be put next to Prescriptives. Osmotics, which used to be next to Prescriptives, is now moving in with NARS. This move gives NARS and Osmotics more space to spread out, and gives Elizabeth Arden a chance to expand and hopefully gain more business with it's new location in a higher traffic area. This moving around also means that myself and the Counter Manager for (what used to be) Prescriptives/Osmotics (her name is Doria) will be flip flopped. Why? Well, Osmotics was a sinking ship before Doria got there, and now that line is doing fairly well, so they want to keep her with Osmotics. Plus, I'm new enough where they feel they can uproot me and stick me with another brand (or in this case, two) and it won't mess things up. Whee.

This is the old setup:
Prescriptives/Osmotics - Counter Manager - Doria.
Christian Dior/Elizabeth Arden - Counter Manager - Michael
NARS - Counter Manager - Me

New setup:
NARS/Osmotics - Counter Manager - Doria
Prescriptives/Elizabeth Arden - Me
Michael is joining the Lancome team.

With this new setup I get to relax a bit because I won't work for the bi-polar, psychotic, Satan-Bitch of an executive from NARS. That woman seriously was on her way to giving me an ulcer. I'm not exaggerating when I say that she was all of those things. She's an evil cunt to work for, and I don't use that word often. Hopefully Doria can tolerate her better than I can.

So, now, you get to visit yours truly at the Prescriptives/Elizabeth Arden counter, now ulcer-free. :)

Life is Worth Losing
I just bought tickets to go see George Carlin on March 16th. Hell fucking yeah.

Life could totally suck right now (who am I kidding, work is probably giving me an ulcer), and I'd still have that teeny little bit of satisfaction knowing that I'll be going to see the angry Irish man, who I consider to be a living legend in stand up comedy, live and in person.

Did I say hell fucking yeah?

Work-Related Plea
Okay people, here's the deal. I've been working at the NARS counter at the Lord & Taylor at the Garden State Plaza for the past month or so. I'm about to host my first ever mini-event for my counter at work this Friday and Saturday, and I need whatever support I can get. Technically, the event is supposed to be Friday morning, since I'm working the early shift, but I'm extending it to Saturday evening (I'm working the late shift) so people who can't make it early on Friday can come in on Saturday night and get pampered.

Here's the deal:

This is a (mainly) skincare event. I'll be demonstrating our NARSskin line for customers. What does this mean for you? Well, it means I demonstrate our tissue-off cleanser, our toning lotions and moisturizers on your face. You can find our total line of skincare items here: http://www.narscosmetics.com/acb/stores/1/NARSskin-C64_lob_2.aspx   I will also be demonstrating our Body Smoother cream via hand massages. :)

Skincare not your concern? No problem. We have tons of awesome single eyeshadows, duo eyeshadows, blushes, eyeliners, lipsticks, lipliners and other cosmetic items.

Here's the super-fun part: With the purchase of two items (does not have to be skincare), you'll receive a mini-facial (complete with a nice, soothing face massage) and make-up application from yours truly. <3

I'm trying to do the event via appointments, so if you'd like to make an appointment, call me at the store at (201) 909-0400 extension 251.

P.S. I'll also be slipping in some nifty Gift With Purchases for my extra-awesome customers. ;)

I'll admit, I'm nervous as hell about this event. Considering I'm the only one working the counter right now, I'm hoping I can pull this off without making a total fool of myself. I really do need all the support I can get. The NARS counter has been on a serious decline over the past 6 months or so, and they blame that on the past employees there. Now that they've hired me, they basically expect me to turn the counter around, which I am desperately trying to do. If you hadn't noticed already, I'm not above groveling. So, help me! Please!

Oh, my counter does not have voice mail, so please try to call when I'm at the store.
Here's my schedule:
Tuesday 9:45AM - 6:15PM
Wednesday 9:45AM - 6:15PM
Thursday 1:15PM - 9:45PM
Friday 9:45AM - 6-15PM
Saturday: 1:15 - 9:45PM.

If you can't reach me at the counter, for those of you with my cell phone number, by all means, call me and leave me a message! I'll call you back and we'll set something up.

So, with that said, if you feel like doing some retail therapy combined with some real massage therapy, call me at the counter!

A new year, a new start...
As of December 30, 2007, my full-time status as a CVS Beauty Department Manager will be over and done with. I'll be remaining on as a part-time employee, probably one shift a week. Why, you ask? Well, I'll tell you.

I landed a new job. As of January 3, 2008, I will officially be the new Counter Manager of the NARS Cosmetics counter at the Lord & Taylor in the Garden State Plaza. :) If you want to know what NARS is, go here and check it out: www.narscosmetics.com
Basically, NARS is like MAC, but now it's cooler, because I work for them. ;)

Way more money, way better benefits and vacation plans, and way more fun. Plus, no fucking truck deliveries anymore. No more exploded shampoo bottles. No more totes stacked 10 feet high and threatening to fall on my head should I even sneeze near them. No more overworking my bad shoulder and coming home feeling like my arm is ready to fall off. Even with my one shift a week, I wouldn't have to deal with these things. And I'm only maintaining that one shift so I that I'm able to keep my discount card. Plus, the extra money will be my gas money.

Rock on, 2008.
